Patient Care Locally is a Community Interest Company (not for profit) who works collaboratively with the NHS to identify patient care needs which can be undertaken more locally in the community. We work with local healthcare organisations to deliver this care. In this way we help relieve pressure on the NHS and help to provide a more efficient service to patients.
We are committed to putting patients first and ensuring they are given both a voice and a choice. We encourage patients to take an active role in shaping their healthcare journey. Through a flexible and bespoke approach, we are working to support the local health economy and meet the needs of the local community by providing seamless, integrated healthcare services which actively contribute towards a reduction in health inequality.
Through innovative, transformative and collaborative working, we deliver care that best supports the patient, the community and the system. Put simply, the right care at the right time, in the right place.
We are the change.
“Getting patients the right care at the right time should be a priority for a government that wants to reduce the burden on the NHS but avoid raising taxes to pay for increased capacity. As a result, the NHS should not and cannot wait to transform its model of navigation”

The way patients access healthcare and the manner in which services are managed is changing. Digital technologies are already heralding a significant shift in service delivery, allowing both patients and the system to benefit from convenience and efficiency. Patient Care Locally is committed to supporting the entire health care ecosystem (patients, providers and tech developers) to embrace this exciting evolution.
The possibilities presented by the harnessing of Artificial Intelligence and other adjacent technologies will allow us to completely modernise the healthcare system. Beyond the obvious benefits to patients and the easing of load placed on the system, digital transformation also brings with it a raft of vital insights and data. This information leads to the further development of tech driven innovations – ones which can be specifically modelled against real user data about real patient needs.
PCL has partnered with pioneering intelligent software developers, Rapid Health who are committed to transforming the patient experience whilst removing clinical and administrative bottlenecks. PCL and Rapid Health have undertaken a 12 month proof-of-concept programme, trialing a new Smart Triage system with selected general practices within the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland region. The Smart Triage system – which uses intelligent software to assess patient needs – aims to reduce the 8.00 am rush for appointments, free up resource capacity for the practice, whilst also allowing the patient to get immediate, first contact access to the right clinician at the right time. Initial results from the programme have been extremely positive.
We recognise that digital technology is not the cure for all ills within the current healthcare landscape. It will take time for both the system and the public to embrace and – more importantly – trust the shift from analogue to digital. However, the far-reaching benefits cannot be denied. The government has clearly tied it’s flag to the digital technology mast, as set out in the 2024 Lord Darzi report.
Change is coming. PCL is committed to being at the forefront of the revolution.
Patient Care Locally are proud to run a fleet of Roving Healthcare Units (RHUs) which are used to support the NHS in delivering a wide variety of healthcare services within the heart of the community. Our RHUs are at the forefront of vaccination delivery within the East Midlands as well as assisting with a broad range of other vital services such as blood pressure checks, fibro scanning, abdominal aortic aneurysm checks, child health and early years, cancer awareness, sickle cell support and more.
“The Roving Healthcare Unit drop-in sessions have been an overwhelming success. We were very impressed with the RHU vehicles. Patients were very happy with this initiative and the speed at which they were seen”
“Delighted to work with a company with patient safety at its heart. It is the key centre piece to any good medical service. With strong leadership in this area from Danah Cadman and Sarah Mabbott, I feel strongly supported to deliver the best care to my patients.”
"With the commissioning of ECG, 24 Hour Holter and BP, Spirometry and FENO within primary care, PCL are at the forefront of modernising this neglected area."
